The well-known and quite popular Total Commander application served as a source of inspiration for Double Commander. So if you’ve used Total Commander in the past, you would immediately feel at home with Double Commander. After all, the two applications have a similar dual-pane interface and look very much alike. They share more than looks – they also share the same sort of functionality. Both are properly good file management tools.

The standard steps you must go through to install a software application on a Windows PC are: download an installer, run it, follow the onscreen instructions presented by a setup wizard. Double Commander does not stray from this simple formula. To get it up and running on a Windows PC, you must go through a standard installation procedure. It won’t take long to complete it, it won’t be hard to complete it.

As mentioned above, Double Commander has a tabbed, dual-pane interface. This sort of interface is very popular for a very simple reason: it is very practical. With a dual-pane interface you can more efficiently access and manage files. It must be mentioned here that Double Commander’s interface can be extensively customized and it must also be mentioned that the interface provides support for a long list of languages.

Double Commander also provides support for lots of useful features: easily access drives, folders, files; copy, move, delete files and folders; create, move, delete directories; view file properties; pack files, extract files from archives; split, combine files; compare directories; calculate, verify checksum; run terminal; show occupied space; sync directories; and more. Since Double Commander is free software released under a GNU GPL, you have all the time in the world to uncover everything it can do.

The only thing I have to say about Double Commander is this: it is a properly good file manager.

Pros

It won’t take long and it won’t be difficult to install Double Commander on your Windows PC. Double Commander has a tabbed, dual-pane interface that is easy to use, provides support for multiple languages, and can be customized. From this interface you can access lots of features and functions that will help you manage your data. Double Commander is free software.

Cons

None that I could think of.
